Cognac Cask-Finished Single Malt Whisky.

Some casks tell a story – of craftsmanship, of patience, of time well spent. Back in mid-2024, we secured a small number of exquisite Cognac casks, crafted from the finest French Limousin oak, and entrusted them with something truly special. Now, after years of careful maturation, we are proud to unveil Wolfburn’s first-ever Cognac Cask Finish single malt.

Matured to perfection in first-fill bourbon casks since 2017, this exceptional whisky spent its final six months resting in hand-selected Cognac casks, absorbing their rich character. The result? A symphony of luxurious flavours – honeyed fruit, warming spice, and an indulgent depth of sweetness that lingers long after the final sip.

There are just 3,900 bottles in total.

On the Nose Icon

On the nose

Hints of dried fruits mix with sweet brandy notes. This is followed by aromas of vanilla, with just a hint of coffee and dark chocolate.

On The Palate Icon

On the Palate

A symphony of luxurious flavours. Dried apricots and almonds are overlaid with vanilla, accompanied by subtle hints of warm spice. Wait a while, and barley sugar makes itself known, along with soft dark chocolate. Truly, this is a decadent dram.

The Finish Icon

The finish

It’s oh-so-sweet, with vanilla and autumn fruits gently fading away, leaving just a trace of caramel and sea salt at the very end.

Product & Production

Whisky production: Every bottle is monitored from distillation to its final filling and dispatch, ensuring exceptional consistency and quality of taste.

Non-chill filtered and a natural colour: Bottled without chill-filtration or artificial colouring, preserving the whisky’s true character.

Matured on site: Every cask is matured in Wolfburn’s traditional style dunnage warehouses set by the sea.

Traditional craftsmanship: Whisky made by hand, using age-old methods and modern precision.

Barley

Natural Ingredients

Water: Drawn from the Wolf burn, rising from a spring a short distance away, crystal-clear and naturally filtered through Caithness stone.

Malt: Premium, sustainably sourced malt from UK growers. A non-GM and non-GN (Glycosidic Nitrile) variety.

Yeast: Single yeast strain, bottom-fermented to bring out rich, fruity tones.

Fermentation: Long and unhurried – promoting deep, layered flavours before distillation.

Maturation Casks

With a wood policy created to deliver depth of character and balance to every drop, our meticulously sourced casks are filled with either a non-peated or lightly-peated spirit, depending on the season.

1st fill Ex-bourbon barrels from Kentucky

1st and 2nd fill Oloroso sherry butts from Spain

1st fill rum casks sourced from the Caribbean

Custom re-coopered quarter casks from Islay Cooperage in Speyside.
