SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

PROMOTING ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

We are genuinely committed to implementing and promoting environmental sustainability. We have established goals for the continual improvement of the company’s environmental performance and for the prevention of pollution. We aim to reduce our impact on the environment and help our customers and partners do the same.

Our Environmental Policy encompasses our commitment to sustainability and is based upon the following:

  • To act in accordance with best practice, comply fully with all relevant legislation and other specified environmental requirements in order to enhance the quality of the environment and recycle materials as appropriate.
  • To co-operate with national and local government authorities, including the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) to ensure that best practice is adopted in all environmental matters.
  • To adopt procedures to identify and assess risk to the environment posed by our activities and the establishment of environmental objectives which lead to improvements in environmental performance.
  • To seek to continually be aware of developments in materials and processes and where possible adopt alternatives to further reduce harm to the environment.
  • To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our Environmental Policy and are committed to implementing and improving it.
  • To ensure all suppliers, contractors and partners are aware of our Environmental Policy and encourage them to adopt similar practices.
  • To review, annually report, and to continually strive to improve our environmental sustainability performance.
In order to put these principles into practice we:
  • Utilise only recyclable packaging.
  • Employ innovative and market-leading energy efficiency measures, including state-of-the-art heat recycling and regeneration.
  • Upcycle production by-products into the local agricultural community, to provide cattle feed and fertiliser.
  • Maintain the outside areas of the distillery in their wild state, as woods and wildflower meadows accessible to local wildlife.
  • Minimise the environmental impact of transportation by undertaking only business-critical travel and by utilising electrical (EV) vehicles as much as possible.
  • Recycle all waste including paper, packaging, glass, and redundant equipment.
  • Reduce the energy consumption of distillery hardware by employing only energy-efficient equipment.
  • Prevent pollution, reduce waste and ensure wherever practicable, that measures are implemented to protect and preserve natural habitats, flora and fauna.
  • Promote our Environmental Policy in all our tender proposals to clients and contractors.
