Product & Production

Whisky production: Every bottle is monitored from distillation to its final filling and dispatch, ensuring exceptional consistency and quality of taste.

Non-chill filtered and a natural colour: Bottled without chill-filtration or artificial colouring, preserving the whisky’s true character.

Matured on site: Every cask is matured in Wolfburn’s traditional style dunnage warehouses set by the sea.

Traditional craftsmanship: Whisky made by hand, using age-old methods and modern precision.

Stream flowing through a natural landscape with grass and trees.

Natural Ingredients

Water: Drawn from the Wolf burn, rising from a spring a short distance away, crystal-clear and naturally filtered through Caithness stone.

Malt: Premium, sustainably sourced malt from UK growers. A non-GM and non-GN (Glycosidic Nitrile) variety.

Yeast: Single yeast strain, bottom-fermented to bring out rich, fruity tones.

Fermentation: Long and unhurried – promoting deep, layered flavours before distillation.

Maturation Casks

With a wood policy created to deliver depth of character and balance to every drop, our meticulously sourced casks are filled with either a non-peated or lightly-peated spirit, depending on the season.

1st fill Ex-bourbon barrels from Kentucky

1st and 2nd fill Oloroso sherry butts from Spain

1st fill rum casks sourced from the Caribbean

Custom re-coopered quarter casks from Islay Cooperage in Speyside.

We had a fabulous tour. The lady who took us round was very friendly and informative. The whiskey tasting was amazing, definitely converted me to a whiskey drinker. We were impressed how clean it was too. Well done everyone

perfect experiance

A very enjoyable and in-depth tour led by a dedicated employee who clearly took pride in his work and felt a strong connection to the distillery. Without exception, all the whiskeys offered for tasting were delicious. Because of the British alcohol tax, we ordered two bottles from one of the local importers right after we returned to Germany...

This was a very informative tour

This was a very informative tour with real passion by the tour guide. This is a small distillery which is not that old but the whiskey was extremely palatable. Very much worth a visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour. The group was sized so that all guests could hear everything being said and could interact. The tour guide was very friendly and approachable and explained everything clearly. Even as a non whiskey drinker, I found the tasters were of exceptional quality and enjoyable.

Vielen Dank für die ehrlichen und tiefen Einblicke in die Herstellung eines sehr guten Whiskey. Kein "Marketing Filmchen". Keine Werbeveranstaltung. Super Führung. Alles was man zum Thema Single Malt fragen und beantworten kann wurde thematisiert. Klare Empfehlung. Der zehnjährige aus den Sherry Fässern ist sehr gut.

This was a wonderful tour of a small distillary. Our guide, Wilma, did a super job, and was aware many of us had been on tours before. The tasting at the end was delightful and quite complete. Highly recommended!

The tour of the distillery is very informative and provides a lot of inside information about the production of this whisky. Very friendly tour guide. Wolfburn is a tasty whisky that has been made with great care and tradition since 2012 in a modern setting using water from the River Wolfburn. Highly recommended!

A really enjoyable tour in a small group, which made the whole experience feel very personal. Our guide shared lots of interesting and entertaining stories along the way. Great atmosphere, great whisky and definitely worth a visit!

Informative and value for money

Enjoyed the tour immensely. Wilma, the guide, was knowledgeable and funny. The facility is small so the tour was personal and hands on. The samples afterwards were well worth the entry. Staff spent time with customers. Warehouse was great.

A lovely tour

A lovely tour. We were given a thorough explanation of how whisky is made and shown every stage of the production process on site. Afterwards, we were given the chance to sample the range to our heart’s content.
Unfortunately, the driver was only given a small sample and wasn’t allowed to bottle the same amount as the non-drivers, even though the same price had been paid. And the specific small sample the driver received had already been decided in advance. It would have been nicer if he’d been able to choose one himself.

Great experience, excellent whisky

On our Scotland-trip we spent some days at John O´Groats and visited the Wolfburn Distillery in Thurso. A great experience, the tour was interesting and the tasting offered some excellent whiskies. Charlie was a wonderful guide. If You are around there: don´t miss it!

Leuke en informatieve toer.

Leuke en informatieve toer, waarna een flinke proeverij volgde. Ook voor mij als niet kenner was het erg leuk. Mocht veel proeven. Zeer kleinschalig, en niet zo toeristisch als ik later in Edinburg zag.

We had a great tour in which our guide took all the time for us, although we were just the two of us. It is nice to know about background of the distillery and how whisky's are made

A wonderful time

Never been to a distillery before. Our tour expert was warm and engaging with very informative knowledge about the whole process and history. Really enjoyed it and learnt a lot. The sample tasting at the end took me by surprise and I found all of them really great, albeit a wee bit potent for me. I left quite happy with a couple of bottles which will keep me in nightcaps for some time. I wear the pin proudly to remind me of that tour and the name of the whisky distillery to inform others. Well done and thanks for a lovely experience on such a wet, rainy day.
