The seas around the coast of the far north of Scotland have both now and in the past drawn men to seek their fortunes. With a cruel hand though that same sea can take away just as it gives. From the herring fleets of old risking it all in flimsy open boats to modern day ocean-going vessels this at times unforgiving coastline has seen its fair share of tragedies.

In association with and to raise funds for the Seafarers Memorial Group Wolfburn would like to introduce a limited bottling featuring the artwork of Robert Anderson who immortalised the terrible events of Saturday the 19th of August 1848. A tragedy that became known locally as Black Saturday.

ON THE NOSEInitially smoky with hints of fruit and fresh sea air, accompanied by vanilla and oak wood-shavings.

ON THE PALATEFloral notes abound, followed by raisins and light spices. Malty flavours open up on the palate, with soft honey sweetness at the finish.

FINISHSoft peaty tones ensure a smooth and lingering finish. Hugely enjoyable.

WICK HARBOUR TRUST Bottling

Nice looking bottle and very good cause, despite living in Caithness all my life and working in Wick for over 20 years I was unaware of the tragic event. This is a good way on bringing notice to it.
