A whisky twelve years in the making

12-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the flagship of the Wolfburn range. Crafted from spirit matured in equal parts in hand-selected second-fill Oloroso sherry butts and ex-bourbon casks, twelve years resting in our warehouses has resulted in a delectably smooth whisky with a depth of flavour showcasing the very best of Wolfburn – a testament to the skill, dedication and patience of our master distillers.

ON THE NOSE
On the nose there’s a lovely mix of sweet and floral aromas, overlaid with a subtle trace of peat smoke.

ON THE PALATE
There’s a wonderful depth of flavour. Hints of honey and burnt sugar mix with soft spices, and throughout there is the ever-present sherry sweetness.

FINISH
The finish is long, lingering and delicious, with traces of dried fruit and caramel remaining until the very end.

Whisky production: Every bottle is monitored from distillation to its final filling and dispatch, ensuring exceptional consistency and quality of taste.

Non-chill filtered and a natural colour: Bottled without chill-filtration or artificial colouring, preserving the whisky’s true character.

Matured on site: Every cask is matured in Wolfburn’s traditional style dunnage warehouses set by the sea.

Traditional craftsmanship: Whisky made by hand, using age-old methods and modern precision.

Stream flowing through a natural landscape with grass and trees.

Natural Ingredients

Water: Drawn from the Wolf burn, rising from a spring a short distance away, crystal-clear and naturally filtered through Caithness stone.

Malt: Premium, sustainably sourced malt from UK growers. A non-GM and non-GN (Glycosidic Nitrile) variety.

Yeast: Single yeast strain, bottom-fermented to bring out rich, fruity tones.

Fermentation: Long and unhurried – promoting deep, layered flavours before distillation.

Maturation Casks

With a wood policy created to deliver depth of character and balance to every drop, our meticulously sourced casks are filled with either a non-peated or lightly-peated spirit, depending on the season.

1st fill Ex-bourbon barrels from Kentucky

1st and 2nd fill Oloroso sherry butts from Spain

1st fill rum casks sourced from the Caribbean

Custom re-coopered quarter casks from Islay Cooperage in Speyside.

A distillery not to be missed.

Visited the distillery on a recent North Coast 500 trip. Upon arrival was made to feel very welcome as soon as I walked through the door. After explaining what kind of malt I preferred, was recommended this one. Upon trying it was very impressed. Definitely one of my favourite malts now. The service provided was excellent. Would recommend anyone up near the distillery to call in. You won't be disappointed. Will definitely be buying from Wolfburn again.

Near perfection

The 12 year pour is very near top notch.
If I could I would give it a 4.9 out of 5.
I’m looking forward to the future pours from Wolfburn. I’m sure a few more years of age will fully mature it to rival even the most well known scotch.
The distillery is an excellent choice with some truly amazing scotch offerings.
I especially love the Aurora blend.

Consistent good flavour .

Consistent good flavour in line with other Wolfburn products. Lighter texture than the likes of Cask Strength and Klyva 16. Makes an excellent aperitif.

Very nice!

I may well be one of the first Germans to taste Wolfburn’s 12yo, which I ordered immediately after it was released. I really enjoy it a lot. I am not really knowledgable when it comes to whisky, but I have tried most of Wolfburn‘s core range by now. In my eyes (or mouth), the 12yo is just another step up in quality, rounded and fairly complex, while still showing its destillate‘s typical fruityness. If you have not tried Wolfburn‘s whiskys before, now‘s the time.
