Small Batch 416 Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Wolfburn Small Batch Release 416 is a 10-year-old single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 46% vol, fully matured in first-fill ruby port pipes sourced from a vineyard in Portugal's Douro Valley, one of the world's oldest protected wine regions. It is the first age-stated expression in the Wolfburn Small Batch Series. Just 3,900 bottles produced.

We sourced those port pipes in 2016. A small parcel from a vineyard deep in a region that has been producing wine longer than most countries have existed. We filled them, sealed them, and left them alone to do what time does best. What came back, ten years later, is a whisky with a depth of flavour that more than justifies the wait.

The Small Batch 416 release carries everything that makes Wolfburn distinctive: Caithness water, seaside warehouse maturation, copper pot stills, shaped over a decade by some of the finest ruby port casks we've worked with to date.

No chill filtration. No artificial colour. 46% vol. Ten years of maturation on Scotland's north coast, in casks sourced from one of the world's most celebrated wine regions.

3,900 bottles. No second run. If you're looking for a limited-edition port-cask single malt Scotch whisky that genuinely earns every word of its description, this is it.

If Release 416 is your introduction to aged Wolfburn, it won't be your last. Our 12 Year Old Single Malt, the flagship of the Wolfburn range, matured in equal parts Oloroso sherry butts and ex-bourbon casks, offers a different window into what time and good wood can do to Caithness spirit. A permanent home for those who want to explore further. And if you'd like to see where the Small Batch Series has been before it gets here, the full archive of previous releases tells the story.

ON THE NOSE
Warm ruby port aromas drift alongside a delicate whisper of sea salt. Dried fruits slowly emerge – raisins, dark cherries and sultanas, in a deeply vinous embrace that hints at the extraordinary casks at work.

ON THE PALATE
Luscious caramel and smooth vanilla arrive first, underpinned by beautiful wine-soaked flavours. Darker notes follow, gentle oak smoke and the rich sweetness of dates and figs with a supple, full-bodied texture and outstanding depth of flavour.

FINISH
Long and warming. Caramel and dried fruits linger with quiet confidence, while those signature ruby port notes weave through to the very end.
