The seventh small-batch release from Wolfburn, Batch 458 has been crafted from a 50/50 combination of whisky matured for seven years in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry butts, married with lightly-peated spirit matured in first-fill bourbon barrels. These casks produced just 5,100 bottles in total and the result is a rich, sweet single malt with a truly exceptional depth of flavour.

Tasting notes

ON THE NOSE – Treacle and coffee notes lead the way, accompanied by subtle tones of cherry and dried spice. A heady aroma, full of promise.

ON THE PALATE – Hazelnut, almonds and cloves are all present, wonderfully overlaid with soft peat smoke. The tannins are subtle, allowing the palate to develop beautifully. Give it time and the full extent of the flavours will reveal themselves.

FINISH – Treacle sweetness remains present until the end accompanied by hints of spice. A trace of peat smoke continues to linger when all else is gone.

Guilt Present for Husband

I bought a bought a bottle for my husband who normally drinks a more peaty whisky. The bottle was finished very quickly! It was a lovely mellow drink with subtle warming afterglow. I shall definitely be ordering more.

A must do in Thurso! What a wonderful tour we had, very informative, fun and with the best tour guide we could hope for! Wilma explained everything in an easy to understand and informative way. We enjoyed our experience very much and really learned to enjoy Whisky. The guide knew a lot about Whisky (and the company, which is owned by two guys and are doing most things the old fashioned way) and both, big Whisky fans as well as people with less Whisky affinity, will enjoy this tour. We had a wonderful afternoon with delicious Whisky and will definitely order Whisky from the Wolfburn distillery in the future.

Great

My only purpose on going to Thurso was because of Wolfburn whisky as it's my absolute favorite. I loved the tour and the Whisky tasting. I bought a Wolfburn tshirt and have worn all over Scotland and England. Every time I wear it someone will comment on how they are from Thurso. The only thing I don't like as that in my home country of New Zealand Wolfburn is very hard to find. That is why I made sure I bought 3 bottles to take home with me. Hopefully that will last me until I can return.
